New year, New Blog

So in the spirit of the new year I am going to make a resolution to be more active with my blog. I plan on adding recipes, product reviews and finding followers. I am not a writer, not a professoonal chef, I am just a mama with an adventure to share. I have been writing for myself and plan on now writing a public blog. So don't forget to follow me and wish me luck.

Sick if the holy holiday war

So, I don't know about everyone else but I am getting pretty sick of people tearing me (and others) apart for saying Merry Christmas. I live in an area where there is an abundance of culture I have never been offended when people wished me a happy chanuka. Did you know that 96% of americans celebrate christmas? Of that 96% only 70 percent encourage a belief in christ? So I think people that don't celebrate the holiday should lighten up, and feel free to wish me a greeting from their holiday. Either way this should be a happy celebratory time of year! So merry chrismahanakwanzika to you.

Finding the perfect diaper

So we are 4 months into to our cloth diapering expirience. I am truly enjoying it but it's hard to find the perfect diapers. A friend of mine had given me a lot of different diapers to try. I was a little overwhelmed at first but now I have found my faves.

Fuzzi Bunz-I love fuzzi bunz diapers! I like the one size over the perfect size but adjusting the elastic on the one size can be a little complicated. They also come in a variety of cute patterns.

Bumgenius 3.0-I like this diaper but the only one i have we had the Velcro closure converted to snaps so I can't really say much about the Velcro.

Thirsties Duo diaper- These are my most recent buy. I love them! They come with a stay dry and soaker insert and they have the extra fabric around the legs to prevent leakage. They are super absorbent but my lo pulls them off if I don't put pants over them when she sleeps.

Swaddlebees econappy-These are by far my faves. They are so soft and the fit is perfect. The only problem is they are rather expensive and don't really fit in our budget.

I have also tried a variety of prefolds with covers and I find they are a great back up on laundry day but not my first preference.

I love CDing! i have quickly become a CD junkie.

The rash from hell

So my husband and I went to jamaica last week and The grandparents had Kyra in disposables for a week. Apparently why we were gone she developed diarrea and developed a rash. I swear it's one of the worst rashes I have seen on her. So we came back, put her back in cloth and now it's almost gone. Just another reason cloth diapers are a better choice than disposables.

Besides all that my hubby and I had an amazing time on the beach. I truly believe all couples need to make time for themselves and their relationship. Although, the night before we left I cried because we were going to have to leave our little girl. We still had a great time.

Time for a change...switching for disposable to cloth diapers

So here I am. I have always done things to have less impact on the enviorment, but I have to admit I thought that cloth diapering was just way out of my league. I have a friend who convinced me to try it. I did some research and it was all so overwhelming and seemed like a foriegn language to me. Prefolds, insert, all in ones, pockets or no pockets, what in the heck does any of this mean?

So I went back to this friend...She has three children and she is well versed in the language of cloth diapers. Not only did she give me a lesson in cloth diapering, she gave me prefolds and all in ones. Showing me how easy cloth diapering can be, I made the switch and it was pretty simple.

Now we are in week 2 of cloth diapers and are adjusting to the switch well. My little girl waddled for a while but now is adjusting quite well.
